Welcome! This is the official site of the 12th Department Extension Research Project (DERP). We are B.A. Communication Research Batch 2010 currently taking Communication Research 165, a course focused on data interpretation and reporting. Being accredited as a Center of Excellence in Communication Arts by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the UP Department of Communication Research have been undertaking researches and extension activities that have benefit sectors within and beyond the academe. Several communication-related topics have been conducted by the department, such as studies on communication competence (“S’ankamaskomportable?” in 2006 and “Kompitent Siya” in 2007) and news production and reception (“Nagpapatrol 24 Oras” in 2007, “I-CON: Investigating College Newspapers” in 2008, and “Mulat: Manunuri ng Ulat” in 2008). In the year 2009, it had successfully conducted a study entitled “IMPRESS10N: the importance of media presence on the bid for the 2010 national elections”. This coming September 26, 2009, the department will once again take centerstage with this year’s study on the Formation of Filipino Voters’ Opinions on the 2010 Elections.
